Product description
The LuxaLight LF-24-405-24.2X16-TC is an industrial UV-A fixture with a peak wavelength of 404 nm. The fixture combines an aluminium PCB carrying 108 high-density 2835 UV-A LEDs, integrated onto a passive aluminium heatsink and sealed with a transparent PMMA cover.
PMMA maintains high optical transmission around 405 nm while providing IP64 protection against dust and moisture. At the visible-spectrum edge of UV-A, the transmission loss of PMMA is negligible; for shorter UV wavelengths — where PMMA absorbs — a quartz glass variant is available within the same modular platform. The wide 120° beam combined with high LED density is optimised for homogeneous UV-A illumination of larger surfaces at short to medium working distances, rather than for concentrated peak output.
Applications
NDT inspection. Suitable for fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) and magnetic particle inspection (MPI) per ASTM E3022, which specifies a minimum of 10 W/m² (1000 µW/cm²) UV-A at the workpiece. At 30 cm the fixture delivers 27.05 W/m² total irradiance, well above this threshold, and 53.75 W/m² at 20 cm. The wide beam minimises shadowing across larger inspection areas.
Fluorescence excitation. The 404 nm peak matches common UV-A fluorophores, tracers and markers used in machine vision, quality control and laboratory setups. At 15 cm working distance, 87.6 W/m² is available — sufficient for camera-based detection with short exposure times.
UV curing. For light to medium-duty curing of UV-A-curable adhesives, coatings, resins and inks. At 5 cm the fixture delivers 412.1 W/m² total irradiance, producing a 1 J/cm² dose in approximately 24 seconds; surface cure and tack-free treatments are achieved within seconds. The wide-area geometry makes the fixture suitable for flat-bed processes where uniformity matters more than peak intensity.
Forensic detection. Visualisation of fluorescent traces, treated evidence and certain body fluids. At 25 cm working distance the fixture delivers 35.37 W/m² of consistent UV-A across the full beam opening, allowing larger areas to be scanned without repositioning.
Integration
This fixture is designed as a building block for industrial systems. The modular platform architecture provides different cooling, cover and wavelength variants within a single design; configurations and use cases are detailed in the modular fixture info sheet in the download section.
The 24V CV platform enables fast pulse switching, essential for peak output above nominal power. In pulsed operation, a higher instantaneous irradiance can be achieved than in continuous operation at equal or lower average power — delivering higher efficiency in many applications. Combined with the MaNima Pollux Industry controller, the fixture provides real-time monitoring of current, voltage and temperature, PWM control and pulse control with adjustable pulse times from 2µs to 1000ms. The controller supports Ethernet connectivity for PLC and SCADA integration, UDP, analogue signals, digital contacts and network protocols for seamless connection to existing process controls and machine environments.
