Product description
This LuxaLight LED strip delivers deep red light with a peak wavelength of 656 nm and a spectral band around 620–700 nm, projected through a 120° optic. PPFD ranges from ~424 µmol/m²/s at 5 cm to ~26 µmol/m²/s at 30 cm working distance (irradiance ~83 to ~5 W/m²), providing a dimensioning framework for horticulture, photobiomodulation and colour-contrast applications where uniformity across a linear surface matters more than peak intensity at a single point.
The design is positioned as a semi-finished linear deep red light building block for passively cooled horticulture supplement, photobiomodulation and inspection applications. The flexible strip form factor and segmented cuttability allow adaptation to specific line lengths and process geometries. Thermal management is an explicit design consideration: mounting on an aluminium carrier profile or equivalent heat-dissipating substrate is required for stable light output over extended duty cycles.
Applications
Horticulture — flowering induction and photoperiod manipulation The 656 nm peak coincides with the absorption peak of chlorophyll a/b and activates the phytochrome photoreceptor system, making the strip suitable for supplemental flowering illumination, photoperiod control and flowering-response triggering in short-day plants. At 10–15 cm working distance the module delivers ~80–155 µmol/m²/s, which at a 16-hour photoperiod corresponds to a daily light integral of approximately 4.7–9 mol/m²/day — suited as supplemental illumination on top of daylight or as a spectral channel in multi-channel grow setups.
Photobiomodulation (red light therapy) and biomedical research 660 nm is alongside 850 nm one of the two primary wavelengths for photobiomodulation, where red light penetrates skin and superficial tissue and stimulates mitochondrial activity. At 5 cm working distance (~8.3 mW/cm²) a standard PBM dose of 4 J/cm² requires approximately 8 minutes of exposure; for higher doses of 20 J/cm² about 40 minutes. The monochromatic output makes the module suitable for research setups, clinical evaluations and controlled dose studies.
Machine vision and colour-contrast inspection Deep red light delivers strong contrast against products with blue, green or cyan colours and is used for inspection of food products, biological samples and specific materials. At 5–15 cm working distance (~1,100–6,000 lx) the illuminance is suited to camera-based detection of colour deviations, surface features and ripeness indicators in vegetables, fruit and meat products.
Industrial signalling and warning indication Red is the international standard for "stop", "danger" and "warning" in industrial environments. The linear form factor enables prominent warning signalling along machines, hazard zones, walkways and cells, with good visibility in both dark and lit environments.
Plant research and phytochrome experiments For laboratory research on photomorphogenesis, phytochrome response (Pr/Pfr conversion) and flowering-photoperiod studies, the module provides reproducible monochromatic deep red illumination in a narrow spectral band around 656 nm. The flexible construction allows setups with variable geometry and dose-controlled exposure times for controlled growth-chamber experiments.
R&D and spectral-selective experiments For photochemical experiments, colour-contrast studies and spectral-selective lighting, the module provides a narrowband deep red channel that combines easily with other wavelengths in custom multi-spectrum setups. Suited to R&D environments requiring reproducible spectral isolation of the 660 nm range.
Integration
This LED strip is designed for passive thermal integration. Mounting on an aluminium U-profile, cooling profile or equivalent heat-dissipating substrate ensures stable continuous operation and preserves spectral peak position; at elevated duty cycles or in restricted-airflow enclosures additional cooling can be added. The segmented cuttability allows adaptation to specific line lengths and the flexible construction permits mounting on lightly curved or non-planar geometries.
The 24V CV platform enables fast pulse switching, essential for PWM dimming, photoperiod control in horticulture setups and strobed illumination in machine vision applications. In pulsed operation, a higher instantaneous light output can be achieved than in continuous operation at equal or lower average power — enabling synchronisation with growth cycles, camera exposures and dosing protocols. The strip is directly compatible with standard 24V DC power supplies and industrial PWM controllers for dimming, pulse control and synchronisation with process cycles.
