Product description

The LuxaLight LF-24-4200-24.2X16-POL is an industrial LED fixture providing neutral-white light (measured CCT ~4370 K, CRI ~91) with the blue spectral component peaking around 452 nm within a broadband 400–700 nm output. The fixture combines 108 SMD 2835 LEDs on an aluminium PCB with integrated aluminium heatsink and a polarised PMMA cover in an IP64 housing.

The polarised cover transmits only a defined polarisation direction and suppresses specular reflections and surface glare on glossy, wet or structured substrates. Contrast and colour information of the underlying material are preserved, enabling true-to-colour imaging on surfaces where non-polarised lighting would introduce hotspots or veiling glare. Combined with the high colour rendering (CRI ~91), this delivers reproducible results in vision and colour inspection setups.

Applications

Machine vision and automated inspection — For inline quality control with line-scan cameras, the fixture delivers 41,970 lx at 15 cm and 81,620 lx at 10 cm, sufficient for short exposure times at high line rates. The polarised output suppresses specular highlights from glossy or wet products, improving defect recognition, OCR readability and barcode reliability on reflective packaging.

Food inspection and quality control — The neutral-white spectrum with CRI ~91 reproduces the colour profile of fresh produce, packaging and contaminants without colour shift. At 10 cm the fixture provides 81,620 lx, more than sufficient for visual and camera-based inspection on conveyor lines; the polarised cover eliminates glare from films, liquid layers and glass packaging. For wash-down zones within food processing, the same fixture is available in a water-cooled stainless steel 316 housing variant.

Surface, coating and material analysis — Scratches, dents, microcracks and coating inhomogeneities on lacquered, polished or coated surfaces become visible once specular highlights are suppressed. Polarised illumination renders these defects readable for visual inspection and machine vision systems, including under transparent topcoats where standard lighting would mask defect information with surface reflection.

Stress and birefringence inspection in transparent materials — Combined with a crossed analyser polariser in front of the camera, the polarised light source reveals internal stresses, deformations and birefringence patterns in transparent materials such as polycarbonate, acrylic, blown glass and injection-moulded optical components. The high illuminance (215,100 lx at 5 cm) compensates for the light loss of the second polariser and keeps exposure times short.

Plant research and horticultural reference lighting — For climate chambers, growth platforms and horticultural research, the fixture delivers 398.71 µmol/m²/s PPFD at 20 cm within a broadband 400–700 nm PAR spectrum, comparable to a daylight-correlated white-light reference. This makes the fixture suitable as a base layer, control illumination or measurement reference alongside narrowband red or blue growth spectra in comparative plant studies.

Integration

This fixture is designed as a building block for industrial systems. The modular platform architecture provides different cooling, cover and wavelength variants within a single design; configurations and use cases are detailed in the modular fixture info sheet in the download section.

The 24V CV platform enables fast pulse switching, essential for peak output above nominal power. In pulsed operation, a higher instantaneous irradiance can be achieved than in continuous operation at equal or lower average power — delivering higher efficiency in many applications. Combined with the MaNima Pollux Industry controller, the fixture provides real-time monitoring of current, voltage and temperature, PWM control and pulse control with adjustable pulse times from 2µs to 1000ms. The controller supports Ethernet connectivity for PLC and SCADA integration, UDP, analogue signals, digital contacts and network protocols for seamless connection to existing process controls and machine environments.
