Product description
The module produces narrow-band red light with a spectral peak at 631 nm and a band of 620–650 nm, positioned within the red chlorophyll absorption region and the high-contrast window for monochromatic machine vision. The 120° Lambertian emission pattern delivers a total irradiance of 81.18 to 4.57 W/m², a PPFD of 397.3 to 23.7 μmol/m²/s and an illuminance of 15,580 to 912 lx across a 5 to 30 cm working distance — a wide design envelope for intensive photosynthetic lighting at leaf level as well as broad-area contrast illumination for camera systems.
As a semi-finished building block, the module is intended for integration into OEM luminaires, vertical farming systems, grow chambers and industrial vision setups. Passive heat dissipation through a conductive substrate — aluminium profile, cold plate or enclosure with thermal interface — is a mandatory design point: junction temperature directly governs spectral stability, optical output and operational lifetime. Continuous operation at nominal power requires a properly sized thermal interface; pulsed operation substantially relaxes this constraint.
Applications
Horticulture and plant lighting 631 nm red falls within the chlorophyll-a absorption peak and also activates Pfr phytochrome, influencing flowering induction, stem elongation and overall morphogenesis. PPFD scales strongly with distance: 150.3 μmol/m²/s at 10 cm and 76.5 μmol/m²/s at 15 cm deliver a DLI of 8.7 and 4.4 mol/m²/day respectively at a 16-hour photoperiod — sufficient for herbs, leafy greens and propagation at canopy distance, or as supplemental red alongside a white base spectrum in research and greenhouse cultivation. At 5 cm, 397.3 μmol/m²/s yields a DLI of up to 22.9 mol/m²/day, suitable for top lighting of low-growing crops or microgreens. The corresponding total radiance (81.18 W/m² at 5 cm, 30.41 W/m² at 10 cm) allows the radiation balance of the grow chamber to be determined directly.
Machine vision and optical inspection 631 nm red provides high contrast for inspection of green and blue substrates, product positioning, barcode readability and colour-sensitive sorting — applications where narrow-band monochromatic illumination suppresses spectral noise and optimally exploits the bandwidth of CMOS sensors. The total irradiance of 30.41 W/m² at 10 cm and 15.31 W/m² at 15 cm corresponds to an illuminance of 5,883 and 2,970 lx respectively, more than sufficient for short shutter times on standard industrial cameras. The 120° emission delivers even field illumination without hotspots; in pulsed operation synchronised with the camera shutter, instantaneous irradiance can be considerably higher than the nominal 81.18 W/m² at 5 cm, minimising motion blur on high-throughput inspection lines.
Integration
This LED strip is designed for passive thermal integration. Mounting on an aluminium U-profile, cooling profile or equivalent heat-dissipating substrate ensures stable continuous operation and preserves spectral peak position; at elevated duty cycles or in restricted-airflow enclosures additional cooling can be added. The segmented cuttability allows adaptation to specific line lengths and the flexible construction permits mounting on lightly curved or non-planar geometries.
The 24V CV platform enables fast pulse switching, essential for PWM dimming, photoperiod control in horticulture setups and strobed illumination in machine vision applications. In pulsed operation, a higher instantaneous light output can be achieved than in continuous operation at equal or lower average power — enabling synchronisation with growth cycles, camera exposures and dosing protocols. The strip is directly compatible with standard 24V DC power supplies and industrial PWM controllers for dimming, pulse control and synchronisation with process cycles.
