Product description
The LuxaLight Industrial LED Fixture Far Red 735 nm (24.2 × 16 mm) is an aluminium fixture implementation of the 2835 LED engine with integrated heatsink and transparent PMMA cover, targeting industrial applications that require narrowband far-red. The measured peak sits at 739 nm within the 700–800 nm spectral band, driven from a 24V CV platform.
The transparent PMMA cover combines high optical transmission across visible light and near-infrared with mechanical protection of the LED array; across the 700–800 nm band the beam passes virtually unobstructed, without the transmission losses associated with coloured or opal covers. An industrial-grade silicone coating on the PCB adds further sealing against dust, moisture and chemical exposure, making the fixture suitable for long-term use in research, production and greenhouse environments.
Applications
Phytochrome regulation and flowering induction — Far-red at 735 nm shifts the phytochrome equilibrium toward Pr and activates shade-avoidance signalling, internode elongation and flowering induction in long-day plants. End-of-day far-red (EOD-FR) protocols and night-interruption lighting benefit from narrowband output around 730–740 nm — exactly the action region of the phytochrome system. At 20 cm the fixture delivers 51.08 W/m² irradiance, well above the threshold for effective phytochrome conversion within short exposure windows.
Emerson enhancement and supplemental greenhouse lighting — Adding far-red to red light raises the quantum yield of photosynthesis by simultaneously driving photosystem I and II. At canopy distances of 25–30 cm the fixture produces 34.48–25.66 W/m² irradiance, suitable as a supplemental far-red channel alongside existing red or full-spectrum grow lighting in vertical farming, controlled growth chambers and research greenhouses.
Photobiomodulation and deep-tissue research — 735 nm sits in the optical window where haemoglobin and water absorption are minimal, providing deeper tissue penetration than 660 nm red. At 5 cm the surface intensity is approximately 41.6 mW/cm², delivering a 10 J/cm² dose in roughly 4 minutes — relevant for research setups targeting mitochondrial cytochrome-c-oxidase activation, wound healing and tissue regeneration in preclinical models.
Machine vision and NDVI imaging — 735 nm aligns with the sensitivity peak of silicon CMOS sensors across the 700–800 nm range and is used for NIR-contrast imaging, plant phenotyping and NDVI-style vegetation indices where the combination of red and far-red reflectance quantifies crop vitality. The wide 120° beam delivering 416.3 W/m² irradiance at 5 cm provides sufficient illumination for short shutter times in inline inspection systems and hyperspectral setups.
Integration
This fixture is designed as a building block for industrial systems. The modular platform architecture provides different cooling, cover and wavelength variants within a single design; configurations and use cases are detailed in the modular fixture info sheet in the download section.
The 24V CV platform enables fast pulse switching, essential for peak output above nominal power. In pulsed operation, a higher instantaneous irradiance can be achieved than in continuous operation at equal or lower average power — delivering higher efficiency in many applications. Combined with the MaNima Pollux Industry controller, the fixture provides real-time monitoring of current, voltage and temperature, PWM control and pulse control with adjustable pulse times from 2µs to 1000ms. The controller supports Ethernet connectivity for PLC and SCADA integration, UDP, analogue signals, digital contacts and network protocols for seamless connection to existing process controls and machine environments.
