Product description
The LuxaLight LF-24-450-24.2X16-POL is an industrial blue LED fixture with a peak wavelength of 452 nm. The fixture consists of an aluminium PCB carrying 108 high-density 2835 LEDs, mounted on an aluminium heatsink and finished with a polarised PMMA cover.
The polarised cover suppresses direct reflections and specular components that occur on glossy, metallic or wet surfaces. This increases the contrast between surface defects and background, allowing camera systems to capture detail that would otherwise be masked by glare under unpolarised illumination.
Applications
Machine vision and contrast detection — 452 nm is widely used to enhance contrast on materials, prints and surface details compared to broadband white light. At a 15 cm working distance the fixture delivers 5,581 lx and 128.4 W/m², suitable for area scan and line scan camera systems at varying object distances and sizes.
Inspection of glossy or reflective surfaces — the polarised cover suppresses hotspots and specular reflections on metal, glass, polished plastic and wet product. At 5 cm the fixture delivers 24,600 lx and 554.6 W/m² for short exposure times in high-speed inspection lines where reflections would otherwise reduce detection reliability.
Fluorescence excitation — 452 nm sits within the absorption band of widely used fluorophores and fluorescent coatings. At a 10 cm working distance the fixture delivers 10,930 lx and 251.4 W/m², sufficient for stable excitation in inspection and analysis setups reading emission through a bandpass filter.
Horticultural research (PAR 400–700 nm) — 452 nm falls within the blue absorption peak of chlorophyll A and cryptochrome photoreceptors. At 15 cm the fixture provides a PPFD of 466 µmol/m²/s, suitable for blue-spectrum supplementation in phytotron and growth chamber research into morphogenesis, stomatal response and pigment formation.
Integration
This fixture is designed as a building block for industrial systems. The modular platform architecture provides different cooling, cover and wavelength variants within a single design; configurations and use cases are detailed in the modular fixture info sheet in the download section.
The 24V CV platform enables fast pulse switching, essential for peak output above nominal power. In pulsed operation, a higher instantaneous irradiance can be achieved than in continuous operation at equal or lower average power — delivering higher efficiency in many applications. Combined with the MaNima Pollux Industry controller, the fixture provides real-time monitoring of current, voltage and temperature, PWM control and pulse control with adjustable pulse times from 2µs to 1000ms. The controller supports Ethernet connectivity for PLC and SCADA integration, UDP, analogue signals, digital contacts and network protocols for seamless connection to existing process controls and machine environments.
